About MCMUD 18
Montgomery County Municipal Utility District No.
18 was created on September 12, 1973 in accordance
with the pertinent provisions of Article XVI, Section 59
of the Texas Constitution, and Chapters 49 and 54 of the
Texas Water Code. The District operates pursuant to the
provisions of Chapters 49 and 54, Texas Water Code and
the Rules of the Commission. The District is empowered,
among other things, to purchase, construct, operate and
maintain all works, improvements, facilities and plants
necessary to provide water, sanitary sewer service,
storm sewer drainage, irrigation, solid waste collection
and disposal, including recycling, and parks and
recreational facilities for the residents of the
District.
The District serves the Bentwater subdivision and
consists of approximately 1,472 acres of land, all of
which is located in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of
the City of Conroe. The District is located in northwest
Montgomery County, southwest of the F.M. Highway No 1097
bridge over Lake Conroe, and contains approximately 9
miles of bulk headed shoreline on the western shore of
Lake Conroe.
The District’s fiscal year runs from October through
September of the following year. The District has
$60,000,000 in authorized bonds. As of August 2008,
$34,110,000 bonds have been sold.
